Shannon O’Shea is a Programme Specialist in the Post-2015 Development Agenda Unit at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The unit was responsible for participating and engaging in the multi-stakeholder processes leading up to adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is currently working on planning and implementing activities for the newly adopted agenda.

Her main tasks include contributing to the post-2015 global consultation process coordinated by the UN System -- specifically co-designing, implementing and co-leading the Addressing Inequalities and Participator Monitoring and Accountability public consultations; facilitating the inclusion of children and youth through the management of The World Children Want e-space; co-authoring and providing inputs to UNICEF and UN system reports; developing UNICEF communications and position pieces on the SDGs; and keeping UNICEF staff globally well-informed on post-2015 processes and activities through a global newsletter, internal and external websites, and various social media channels. She is the author of several articles on SDGs including the recently published “Investing in All Children: Towards Equitable, Inclusive, and Sustainable Development” (Harvard International Review).

Prior to her appointment to the Post-2015 Unit, Shannon worked on knowledge management in UNICEF for several years, including improving content management and intranet, taxonomy, access to research, communities of practice and strategies for improved knowledge-sharing and use.

Ms O'Shea began her career at UNICEF in June 2001. She is a national of the United States and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs, both from Syracuse University.
